Bembridge Coast hotel, Isle of Wight 4th June 2010
It all takes place at a special private dinner.
The case of the speckled Egg
Film star Marion Martlett is looking for backers for her latest film venture and has called this evening's party. Attending are various well known and wealthy guests. The Police are in attendance to provide security. This seems like an easy task after failing to protect the famous 'Speckled Egg' which was stolen from Barnsworth Bank. Much to the Detectives dismay Mrs Barnsworth is at this evening's event.
A team of trained actors play the suspects and you are the investigators.
You are greeted by these actors who will remain in character for the whole evening. So it is game on from the moment you arrive. Eavesdrop conversations and keep your eyes peeled as not everyone is what they appear during the course of the murder mystery evening.
When the crime occurs you will interrogate the suspects and gather any physical clues. There are generally two or three sub plots running. Are the suspects telling the truth? If not is it because they are involved in the murder or some other dark secret? Its over to you to decide. Detective notes are supplied and at the end of the murder mystery evening you will submit your conclusions. Prize certificates are given for the correct answers and the silliest.

Perfumes touch our personal emotions and reflect our true spirit. Which one we wear, as well as how and where we wear it, speaks volumes. Fascinatingly, perfumes smell utterly different on different people, and - thank goodness - there is none that has universal impact and appeal.
A perfume should be as individual as the wearer; and now, you have the opportunity to become a 'parfumeur' and enjoy the luxury of creating and naming your very own unique, 'designer' fragrance - just like the stars. Over one and a half day workshops, our tutors will explain how perfumes are designed and made - and then help you create one just for you. Perfumes, as you'd expect, have a long and absorbing history.
The word derives from the Latin 'per fumum', meaning 'through smoke' but it predates the Romans by several millennia. And while we now wear perfume to make a good impression, during the Renaissance period, perfumes were used primarily by royalty and the wealthy to mask body odours resulting from the (in)sanitary practices of the day! Interestingly it was the Hungarians who ultimately introduced the first modern perfume. Made from scented oils blended in an alcohol solution, it was created in 1370 at the command of Queen Elizabeth of Hungary and was known throughout Europe as Hungary Water. France quickly took over as the European centre of perfume and cosmetic manufacture - and that remains true today.
Your fragrance will be registered with the perfume studio and a certificate of authenticity will be sent to you in the post.
